Hi, my name is Kiwuani, and I’m raising funds for my mother, who is battling sarcoidosis, which is a rare disease that causes clusters of inflamed tissue (called granulomas) to form in organs, most commonly the lungs and lymph nodes. In addition to sarcoidosis, she’s been dealing with several other serious health conditions that have deeply affected her life.

She was first hospitalized in October 2024 and had to leave work. Though she returned briefly in January 2025, she was hospitalized again in February. At the time, she was working as a nurse, a career she loved and took pride in. While she was assured her job would be waiting for her after recovery, she unexpectedly lost both her position and health insurance while still in the hospital.

Without coverage, she faced over $650,000 in medical bills and had no choice but to purchase extremely expensive insurance just to access the care she needed. On top of all this, she also lost her apartment. Thankfully, we were able to find her temporary housing, but I can no longer support her on my own.
