Our son, King, is a brave 13-year-old who survived a devastating house fire that left him with third-degree burns over 50% of his body. Since that day, he has endured seven surgeries, months of hospitalization, temporary paralysis, and daily pain as he fights to heal.
Before this tragedy, King was simply a kid enjoying life. He had just gone through a major growth spurt, was adjusting to a new school, and was looking forward to finishing 7th grade. Instead, he has spent months in a hospital room, missing school, his friends, and the normal childhood experiences every young person deserves.
The physical recovery has been overwhelming, but the emotional journey has been just as difficult. Like many burn survivors, King has faced fear, sadness, frustration, anxiety, loss of appetite, and moments of depression as he learns to navigate a life that changed in an instant. Through it all, he continues to show incredible courage and determination.
His hospital stay has now extended into a fourth month, and the road ahead is still long. King will require ongoing physical rehabilitation, occupational therapy, tutoring to help him catch up in school, mental health support, and continued medical care. At the same time, our family is working to repair the home where the fire occurred while managing frequent travel to medical appointments.
As King’s mother, I have remained by his side around the clock throughout his hospitalization, stepping away from work to provide the care and support he needs every day. While there is no place I would rather be, the financial impact has been significant.
Every donation—no matter the amount—will go directly toward King’s recovery and the many expenses that come with it, including rehabilitation, specialized therapies, medical-related travel, educational support, and helping our family rebuild.
Most of all, your kindness reminds King that he is not facing this journey alone. Whether you are able to donate or simply share our story, we are deeply grateful for your love, prayers, and support as he continues fighting toward recovery.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
