Support Kierra's Mom's Breast Cancer Recovery

Hi everyone,

My name is Kierra, and I’m raising funds on behalf of my amazing mom, who is currently recovering from a double mastectomy after being diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year.

Our journey began in March, when my mom discovered a lump in her breast. She called me over to assess it, and right away, we contacted her doctor. She had a mammogram on March 17th, but the results came back unclear — more testing was needed.

Despite the uncertainty, we had already planned a trip to Las Vegas at the end of March to visit my grandmother, who was also going through health challenges, and to celebrate my brother’s birthday and meet his newborn baby — our family’s newest blessing. While we prayed the results would be nothing serious, the unclear notes in her MyChart weighed heavily on my mom’s heart. Still, she chose to delay her next appointment until after the trip so she could focus on being there for my grandma.

After we returned, my mom had her first biopsy on April 3rd. On April 5th, she called a family meeting to tell my brother, my grandma, and me the news: it was breast cancer. I’ll never forget the moment. My mom just cried… and cried.

From there, everything moved fast. A full team of specialists was assigned to her, and we found ourselves at multiple appointments every week. She underwent two more biopsies because doctors weren’t sure how many masses there were. Each one was more painful than the last — I watched my mom push through bruises, tears, and exhaustion. After talking to other women and reflecting on what was best for her long-term health, she made the brave decision to move forward with a double mastectomy.

Her 9-hour surgery took place on May 22nd, and by God’s grace, it was successful. They caught the cancer early, and she was able to have reconstructive surgery at the same time. But while I sat waiting for updates during her procedure, I began receiving courtesy calls — not about her condition, but about her medical bills. I was told my mom was now responsible for her copays, deductibles, and out-of-pocket expenses — all while she was still on the operating table.

To make things even harder, my mom was laid off from her job because she needed time off to focus on treatment and healing. With no income and increasing medical expenses, things have been incredibly difficult.

I’ve stepped in as her sole caregiver, doing everything I can to support her physically, emotionally, and financially. But the reality is — we need help.

Recovery hasn’t been easy. There are painful nights, emotional lows, and the overwhelming mental shift of navigating life after such a major surgery. Weekly doctor’s appointments, ongoing treatments, post-op care, and a much-needed shift to a natural, health-focused lifestyle have added up quickly. New dietary needs, wound care supplies, supplements, and household support — none of it is cheap.

We are asking, humbly, for your support. No donation is too small. Every dollar helps us cover a medical bill, buy a supply, or simply get through another day with a bit more peace of mind.

If you’re not in a position to give, please consider sharing this campaign and keeping my mom in your prayers. Your love, encouragement, and support mean everything to us.

Thank you so much for reading and for standing with us during this fight. My mom is the strongest woman I know — and with your help, I know she’ll get through this chapter stronger than ever.

With gratitude,
Kierra
