I would like to introduce you to Teagan Baratka (age, 12) and Gregg Baratka, Jr. (age, 7.) Tragically, this past week Teagan and “Little” Gregg’s Mother, Shawna Howard (age 38, from Brighton Heights) passed away. Shawna was loud and fun and I never will forget the first time she met my little boy. Shawna reached into her purse for a dollar bill to give to my son…she pulled out a $20 dollar bill and 2 lollipops. Shawna may have had trouble paying her own bills at times but, she didn’t consider going back into her purse to look for a smaller bill to give to a little boy she had never met before. Shawna’s kindness and generosity put a smile on my son’s face.

On behalf of anyone who has been blessed enough to receive and/or give the love only a Mother can; we cannot help be touched by these two children who tragically have lost theirs.

I encourage you to extend kindness to Shawna’s kids- the way Shawna did to my son. This is an opportunity for the friends and family and anyone in any community who has been blessed enough to know how special Morhers are.

No child should ever have to go through the rest of their life without a Mom to give hugs, wipe away tears, teach, and love them…in a way only a Mother can do.
