" When I think of India I am reminded of hot summer days and warm memories of spending time with my family. As a kid, my parents and I would visit every few years and I would always enjoy my time there. For me, India felt like a vacation, a nice little break from my life in the States. However, as I got older I began to see and understand the glaring disparities between the U.S. and India. The quality of living in most Indian villages is significantly lower than the communities I have seen in the U.S., and that results in many people not having access to the necessary physical or medical resources they need. I was immediately interested when I heard about the India Medical Mission because it would allow me to give back and support a place I consider my second home.
Two years ago, through my school, I had the opportunity to go on a medical trip to Ecuador, and it was an eye-opening experience. I was introduced to a new environment, one that was so different from what I was used to seeing daily, and it showed me how people from a different part of the world lived and the unique medical issues they faced. On this trip we visited various rural areas where we would set up a day camp and attend to the residents there. I had a chance to talk to the locals and play basketball and soccer with the kids there as their parents were getting checked up on. Overall the entire experience was amazing and I believe that the India Medical Mission trip will grant me a similar encounter." - Kevin Sade
