I recently learned that one of my favorite professors at Utah Valley University, Keri Measom, received an unexpected email informing her that her teaching contract would not be renewed. After 14 years of dedicated service at UVU—and nearly 30 years as an educator—she was unjustly fired.
One of the reasons cited for her non-renewal was that she is “too personal” with her students. But to anyone who’s been in her classroom, this is exactly what made her exceptional. Keri has a rare gift for making students feel seen, heard, and supported. She doesn’t just teach—she builds lasting connections and creates a space where learning is deeply human and personal.
To make matters worse, Keri had already prepped for her summer courses—classes she was depending on financially—and was abruptly told she would no longer be teaching them. She lost over $10,000 in expected income, along with her health insurance and her children’s tuition benefits.
After consulting with multiple attorneys, Keri has decided to move forward with legal action, believing that this decision was not only unjust but potentially unlawful.
Now, she needs our help.
If you’ve been impacted by Keri’s teaching—or simply believe in standing up for good, passionate educators—please consider donating. Your support will help cover legal fees and provide a financial cushion for Keri and her family as they navigate this incredibly difficult time.
Let’s show her the same loyalty and love that she’s shown to all of us.
Thank you so much for standing with her. ❤️
