My name is Kelsey and I’m raising money to afford a lawyer and the trip down to North Carolina to file for emergency custody of my boys Nathan and Ryker.

On July 15th, the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office arrested Adam Joshua Polk, age 40, of Stony Point. He is charged with four counts of felony statutory sex offense with a child. He is no longer listed in custody.

My boys are currently in his custody because of our custody agreement. I had no idea any of this was happening until today, 8/5/25, when DSS called me to inform me there was an open case. Right now, they have an order where he can’t be alone with our children, so another adult is in the home with them to keep them safe.

My children are not the victims in this, so that’s why they are not being removed.

My plan is to drive down to NC and file emergency custody paperwork, talk to a lawyer, and see if they can take the case to help me keep my boys as far away from him as possible. My goal would be to have his rights terminated.

I need help with gas and travel, plus a deposit for a lawyer. I’ll see if they will make a payment plan with me.

Today has been a shocking day and I just want my children safe.

I hate asking for help, but I’m putting my pride aside for my boys' future.
