My name is Kelsey. My father is 58 years old and is having to have a heart transplant. 22 years ago, he had a massive heart attack that nearly killed him. He had to have a pacemaker and defibrillator put in to keep his heart going. In those 22 years, he has experienced tachycardia and more blocked arteries. His heart is now only functioning at 15% and is dying. Due to the rapid decline, his heart doctor has made the decision that he needs a heart transplant immediately. Insurance won't cover the full cost, and there are a lot of co-pays leading up to the surgery. After his heart transplant, he will be moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, to recover for 2 months.

I do not want my parents to have to bear this financial burden as my dad will need to focus on recovery, and my mom will need to be helping him throughout this entire process. My father has a ton more life to live, and he deserves this chance at having that without having to worry about how he and my mom are going to pay what insurance doesn't cover and the co-pays to all the doctor visits and 2 months in recovery.
