My name is Kelsey, and I’m reaching out during the most difficult time of my life. My husband, Michael, and I were married for 10 years and have three wonderful children: Halle (9), Hyatt (6), and Hance (2). Michael was the heart of our family—he loved cookouts, riding our side by side, fishing, hunting, and anything that brought him outdoors. His laughter and adventurous spirit made every day brighter for all of us.
Michael’s journey with a heart transplant began when he was just 7 years old. He endured multiple complications in his lifetime. In July 2024, we learned he would need another transplant. He faced this news with courage, attending countless appointments and enduring a recent hospital stay. After being discharged and feeling hopeful, Michael suddenly collapsed at Home Depot and was rushed to Genesis Hospital, then transferred to OSU. He was placed on a ventilator and the following day responded to simple commands. Sunday morning, his heart stopped again. After an hour of CPR, starting ecmo and two emergency surgeries, Michael’s organs started shutting down and was no longer a candidate for a second heart transplant.
I am raising funds to help cover Michael’s funeral expenses and provide ongoing support for our children as we navigate this unimaginable loss. Any support will help us honor Michael’s memory and ensure our family has the resources we need to move forward. Thank you for keeping us in your thoughts and for any help you can offer.
