Support Kelsey and Jordan's Medical Journey
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Teresa Hanson, and I am raising $10,000 to support my family/friend Kelsey and Jordan Schaefer with ongoing medical expenses. Life has bought them unexpected challenges, and I am reaching out to friends and family to help them during this tough time.
Jordan has been battling with ongoing medical complications from June 2021 to October 2024. This has been an emotional and financial strain as the medical costs continue to grow. From treatments and medications to doctor visits and therapy, the expenses are overwhelming.
In June 2021, Jordan developed a severe infection in his finger that involved two surgeries to save it. Unfortunately, despite the doctors' best efforts, Jordan ultimately had to undergo an amputation.
In May 2023, Jordan developed another severe finger infection that quickly worsened, needing two more surgeries with another course of 6 weeks of antibiotics.
In May 2023, Jordan experienced frequent falls, neuropathy, gait imbalances, and overall weakness. After undergoing a comprehensive neurological workup, Jordan was diagnosed with Chiari Malformation. Chiari Malformation is a condition where the brain tissue extends into the spinal canal, which can cause a variety of neurological symptoms, including difficulty walking, weakness, and coordination deficits. It is a condition that requires ongoing care, potential surgeries, and therapies to manage symptoms. In June 2023, Jordan underwent a craniotomy to correct Chiari Malformation with shunt placement.
In September 2023, Jordan suffered a fall resulting in a humerus fracture along with a rotator cuff tear in his shoulder. This injury required surgery in October 2023 to repair the rotator cuff.
Lastly, in August 2024, Jordan was diagnosed with a severe shoulder infection, which led to necrotizing fasciitis, and two surgeries. Despite the efforts to save his shoulder, the infection caused significant damage, leading to degeneration of his humerus. As a result, Jordan had a spacer in place of the bone and shoulder joint, with the initial plan to replace the shoulder altogether. Unfortunately, Jordan was diagnosed with Charcot Arthropathy which has worsened his condition, and he has been advised against further surgeries due to the risks involved. Charcot Anrthropathy of the shoulder is a rare and chronic degenerative disease. This has left him with chronic lymphedema, limited use of his shoulder, and no feeling in his hands and arms.
This journey for Kelsey and Jordan has been incredibly difficult. Since June 2021 to October 2024, Jordan has required ongoing medical treatments, IV antibiotics, therapies, a need for constant medical care and management of chronic conditions, a loss of mobility and severe limitations in daily life, as well as loss of income due to his inability to work, and the financial burden of surgeries, treatments and the possibility of future care.
Thank you for taking the time to read their story and for any help you can offer. Kelsey and Jordan would be deeply grateful for your support. A donation, big or small, will make a world of difference in easing their burden for their family and two small children.
With heartfelt gratitude.
