Support Keith's Journey Against Brain Cancer

On Monday August 26th, 2024 Keith Trode was admitted into the hospital due to feeling very ill. He was having constant headaches, constantly bumping into things, and had tingly feelings in his arms. If you know Keith, he is not one to complain about pain but it became unbearable. The hospital performed a CT scan and found a 6 centimeter mass in his brain. On Thursday August 29th, a Doctor from UB Neurosurgery performed a left craniotomy to remove the mass. After surgery, the doctor was able to confirm that they removed the entire mass and drained all the cysts surrounding the mass. However, the doctor stated that it was a cancerous brain tumor. Keith has lost his right peripheral vision that will not come back, has some memory less, has had taste bud changes, has a lack of energy and becomes fatigue super quick, and will have other side effects with treatment coming. Due to the craniotomy, Keith has had to have several weeks of Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Nurse Visits, Speech Therapy, Oncology Visits, and more.
On Tuesday September 10th, the doctor confirmed that the mass was a grade IV Glioblastoma. This type of brain tumor is the most aggressive brain cancer a person can have. Although they removed the mass, this type of cancer infiltrates the brain and Keith will have to go through 6.5 weeks of chemotherapy and radiation.
Unfortunately, this brain cancer is now considered a disease Keith will live with for the rest of his life because it is not curable. He will always have to be monitored by going into doctor offices every 2 months to get a scan to check on his brain. Keith will also be on maintenance pills for the rest of his life to help keep the tumor away. If the tumor comes back, he will need to go through further treatment.
If you know Keith, you know he is someone who would give the shirt of his back to anyone who is in need. He is someone that drops what he may be doing to be there for you in a second. You know he’s humble and hard working. You know that he’s a fighter and during this process has been staying strong and positive. We are all trusting in God that everything will be okay. Keith is loved very much by his wife, 4 daughters, 3 sons, and 4 grandchildren, and all his family and friends.
This fundraiser is being ran by his family to help raise money toward out of pocket medical bills and other expenses that may occur throughout Keith’s treatment journey. After all his medical costs are all set, anything extra will be donated to Roswell Cancer Research to help in finding the cure to cancer. Anything and everything is appreciated
