I was working in the logging industry when I was involved in a serious logging truck accident. As I was going around a corner, the load shifted, causing my truck to flip over. I was injured in the accident and am now facing a recovery that I never expected.
I suffered a fractured T8 vertebrae, a concussion, and injuries to my ribs, leg, and hip. Because of these injuries, I am unable to work and don't know exactly when I'll be physically able to return to the job that supports my family.
I do have workers' compensation, and I am grateful for that. But the benefits I will receive aren't enough to cover everything I normally have to pay each month. My regular bills continue, while my ability to earn a living has suddenly been taken away.
One of the hardest parts of this situation is my children. I have six kids who mean everything to me, and I have always worked hard to provide for them. I currently have a child support obligation of approximately $1,600 a month. Their mother relies heavily on that support to help provide for the kids, and I take that responsibility seriously. I never expected to be in a position where an injury would prevent me from being able to meet that obligation.
Before this accident, I had a plan to change my situation. I was supposed to begin purchasing my own log truck on September 1st. Owning the truck would have allowed me to work for myself, earn a better living, and provide more consistently for my children. After this accident, that plan is no longer possible right now.
I'm not asking for help because I don't want to work. Quite the opposite. I've always worked hard for what I have, and my goal is to recover, get back to work, eventually get back into my own truck, and become financially stable again.
Right now, though, I need help getting through the period between this accident and being able to support myself and my children again.
Any money raised will go toward essential living expenses, bills, transportation, medical and recovery-related costs, and helping me continue meeting my responsibilities to my children while I'm unable to work.
If you can't donate, sharing this fundraiser would mean just as much to me. Every donation, every share, and every kind word helps.
I never imagined I would have to ask for help like this. I'm used to being the person who works, provides, and takes care of things. Right now, I just need a little help getting through a situation I never saw coming.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who takes the time to read my story, donate, or share it. I truly appreciate
