Support Kaylee's Long Road to Recovery
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Leia and I am reaching out for support for my niece Kaylee, sister Trisha, and their family.
The beginning of April, Kaylee went to the ER with a Crohns flare up. Scans later showed damaged to her intestines and she was admitted for care and transferred to Northwestern where they would preform surgery to remove 3ft of her intestines. 40 days, 4 surgeries, 7 blood transfusions, sepsis among other infections, and a collapsed lung later (along many other things) and she is still there. Kaylee also has tubes draining fluids from her abdomen daily and getting nutrients through a PIC line. We had some good news last week as Kaylee was finally moved out of ICU, but the fevers have started back up and labs and scans indicate another infection. This has been an extremely long and hard road for Kaylee as she has just start PT to begin to start walking again, breathing treatments daily and lots of infusions. It’s going to take a long while for her to fully recover. This has been extremely hard on Kaylee, mentally and emotionally as throughout all of this she has still worked hard and pushed through to graduate, which unfortunately she missed this past weekend along with her senior prom. And while all of this going on her mother (trisha) has not left her side once. She hasnt been able to work so it has dropped down to one income. As well as Ryan and Kyra have been driving to Chicago from Sandwich numerous times a week to be with them so gas and parking are adding up. Once Kaylee is home home health care will have to come to the house a few times a week to clean and redress incisions, physical therapy to help her walk again and build up her lungs, and she will also need IV infusions 2x a week that are not covered by insurance and run $200 an infusion. She will also need to get special equipment for Kaylee to adjust to her current living style before she gets home, and weekly check-ups in Chicago for the first few months. Along with all the medical bills piling up currently.
Kaylee is such an amazing young woman and can use all the support in the world. And Trisha has always been so selfless and helpful to everyone she meets.
I am asking that if you can please help by donating and if you can not donate all I ask is that you share this post ❤️
Thank you!
