Support Kayla and her family through this difficult journey

I am making this for my daughter, Kayla Sandlin, who just found out she has cancer. To make things a bit easier, I’m just going to add her post that she has made.

I am making this for them as they only have 1 income in the home, and they need all the financial help they can get right now, with bills, medical, gas, going back and forth to the hospital to be with her, getting the boys to school, doctor appointments, etc. this is so that their lives aren't disrupted any more than it already has been and lessens the stress on Kayla and Luke. Also no one is obligated to donate. Prayers are very much appreciated and needed.

Below is the post she made. Please share this post as much as you can and get this out there to help them during this challenging and stressful time she's going through right now.

"The past few days have been a whirlwind. Our lives have changed in the blink of an eye. Monday evening, I decided to go to the emergency room to have some labs done. I was told that night my white blood count was 42,000. For two days, I laid in the hospital bed at Hazard, and they finally came in and told me that I had leukemia.

I was sent straight down here to the Lexington Markey Cancer Center, and they have confirmed that I do have AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia). It is very scary and a lot to take in. A lot of information has been thrown at me in such a short period of time. I hadn’t been sick and hadn’t felt bad. I just had what I thought was a crick in the back of my neck. My lymph nodes had swollen, so I figured I needed labs done to figure out why. So, as of now, what we know is that it is aggressive, and according to the doctor, I’m young and have no other health issues, they want to do an aggressive treatment that will be given to me over the course of 10 days, daily. They haven't said just yet when that will start. They said it would wipe everything, good and bad cells, and should put me in remission.

I have a long journey ahead of me, and as of right now, I have a 4-6 week stay at the hospital. My main concern is my boys and Luke. Luke’s doing the best he can. He’s never had to be mommy and daddy both. The boys have never had to depend on Luke for much because I’ve always been there and done it. I have never felt so helpless in my life. We never know what tomorrow may hold or how quickly our lives can change. My goal right now is to beat this and come home healthy and get back to where my boys and husband need me to be. I also want to thank everyone who has prayed, continues to pray, and everyone who has helped us in any way possible and continues to help. I couldn’t thank you all enough. This is going to be a struggle, but we’ve got this. God has got us. Right now, we need all the prayers we can get, and I’m claiming my healing in Jesus' name. Also, as of now, my boys don’t know exactly what is going on; they just know that mommy is sick and that’s it, so please don’t say anything to them. Just please continue praying for me and my little family. It’s very much appreciated."
