Hello everyone,
My name is Kayla Moreno. It’s with the deepest sadness in my heart that I have lost my husband, Rafael, to cancer. He was only 28 years old.
We met in 2016, started dating in 2020, and were married by 2023. In May of 2024, we got pregnant with our baby girl, Marilyn. In October of 2024, my husband began to get very sick, and by December of 2024, he was diagnosed with stomach cancer. They told us it was a very aggressive cancer and it could spread very quickly. He started chemo in February, along with some holistic remedies. In March, a tumor ruptured in his stomach and he had to undergo emergency high-risk life-saving surgery.
Rafael went through many ups and downs since then. There were times when he was feeling good and able to do things with me and our baby girl… and there were a lot of times when he could barely even get out of bed. He spent many days in the ER and hospital rooms, poked and prodded to no end. In August, we were able to throw him a big birthday party where he was actually feeling very good. And it was the last time he was….
By September, he was in and out of the ER 5 times throughout the month. We found out the cancer had spread to his lungs and possibly to other organs.
He almost lost his life due to carbon dioxide poisoning from not being able to breathe properly. He ended up having to be intubated and unfortunately never made it off of the ventilator. Surgical oncologists told us there was nothing they could do. Doctors told us there was nothing left to do. We gave his life to God and begged Him for a miracle.
After being stuck in the hospital on the ventilator, the cancer just continued to spread with no way of treating it. It went to his liver, kidneys, bladder... everywhere. He lost his consciousness a little bit more every day… and by October 18th, he had been completely unresponsive for 3 days. He passed away peacefully that morning at 11:17 am.
He was so young and loved his baby girl so much, and it is so unfair that he will not see her grow up.
We hold fast to the truth that he knew the Lord and he is now with Him, no longer suffering.
I am asking for financial support because I have been a stay-at-home wife/mom for the last 3 years, so I have nothing to fall back on at the moment. Anything helps.
I will soon be looking for a job, but for now, it would mean the world to have help with groceries, rent payments, bills, and everything I need for me and our baby girl. She is only 9 months old.
Thank you so much for taking your time to read my husband's story.
