Hello, my name is Melissa and with my niece Katlyn and her husband Ben's permission, I have started this GoFundMe page. Katlyn and Ben just had a beautiful baby girl and most recently, Katlyn thought she was coming down with a stomach bug, which was not the case. She ended up in Geisinger ER and was quickly admitted with blood clots on her spleen. Further testing revealed she had a bacterial infection that attacked her mitral valve in her heart. She was quickly transferred to Geisinger Danville under the care of an awesome medical team. The news she got from further testing was not the results we wanted, but it was the results we got. Katlyn is currently in open-heart surgery at the age of 27 for a mitral valve replacement. With that being said, Katlyn is not able to work, and Ben, her husband, is also not working currently due to being with Katlyn at the hospitals. She will be in the hospital for about another week and has a long road to recovery ahead of her. Hospital costs, transportation costs, and lost wages are burdens I would like to help with for this beautiful young family. All money collected will go directly to Katlyn and Ben for them to use where it is needed, including formula and diapers for their baby. I know they would not ask on their own, so I am asking on their behalf. Thank you so much.
