Hello! My name is Katie and I was accepted to Empower Through Health for their Global Health Fellowship in Uganda. For five weeks this summer I will be volunteering under Yale MD researchers collecting data for their research program, working to build schools and equal health care, as well as providing healthcare. I currently am an undergraduate student studying biology and physiology, I plan on pursuing my future career in pediatric surgery. As a freshman in college I work part time as a CNA to cover my tuition and other school fees. This amazing opportunity with ETH will cost me about $4,500 some expenses including a donation to their program, a deposit, my flight to Uganda, a volunteer visa, and a cellular data plan.
