I have created this GFM to support my friend Katie after the tragic and unexpected passing of her husband, Dan, on November 10, 2025.

On the evening of November 9th, Dan had mentioned he was experiencing what felt like abnormal heartburn. He took antacids and went to bed. Around 5am the next morning, Katie woke to Dan breathing as if he was having a night terror. He was completely unresponsive and suddenly stopped breathing. Katie called 911 and started chest compressions until medics arrived. The medics worked on him for about 30 minutes and were unable to resuscitate him. The medical examiner determined that he died from an enlarged heart, had a blockage, and died of heart failure.

Dan was an incredible friend and always showed up for everyone in need. He genuinely cared for everyone he interacted with, from strangers to coworkers, to friends and family. He was the primary financial provider for his family and leaves behind a devastated wife and daughter.

In honor of his generosity and support for those in his community, I humbly ask on behalf of his family for any financial contributions you can spare to help them get back on their feet while they grieve this monumental loss. My goal is for Dan’s family to not have to worry about money for several months. The goal amount reflects about 6 months worth of rent.

Katie is a solo small business owner and must work through her grief so as not to lose her business and now only source of income. My spouse and I are volunteering to help her keep her business running. All financial support helps Katie and Katelyn stay in their home and keep food on the table.
