Support Kate's Mission: Honoring Loved Ones in Guatemala

Hello Friends and Family,

As many of you know, I’m approaching a milestone—my 50th birthday. Earlier this year, my husband asked how I wanted to celebrate. I considered the usual ideas: a big party, a weekend getaway, maybe a spa trip with friends. While they all sounded fun, none of them truly felt right.

Part of me, I realized, is still missing my dad. He passed away in 2024, and his birthday was the day before mine. We celebrated our birthdays together, and the thought of marking this milestone without him feels... incomplete.

Then, during one of our Cousins’ Book Club gatherings, we began talking about a service trip to Guatemala with The GOD’S CHILD Project—an organization close to the heart of my cousin Brendan, who also passed unexpectedly in 2024. Brendan had completed two service trips with GCP and was planning his third. He was passionate about their mission.

In August 2025, a group of Brendan’s family and friends will travel to Guatemala to honor his legacy. That’s when it hit me: This is how I want to celebrate my 50th. Not with a party, but with purpose—honoring Brendan’s spirit and remembering my dad, who lived a life dedicated to helping others.

I will be joining The GOD’S CHILD Project, also known in Guatemala as Asociación Nuestros Ahijados, as a volunteer and GCP Ambassador. During my time there, I’ll help build a home for a family in need and participate in local service work.

To support this mission, I’ve created a GoFundMe page to raise funds directly for the project. Every contribution helps provide safe housing, education, and healthcare for families in need.
