Support Kasese Community during Covid19 and floods

Donation protected
I'm Frederique van Waning from Amsterdam joining forces with Elijah Muhindo and Mourice Yiga.  Elijah and I met in Kampala, Uganda and have been friends for almost 10 years.  Ever since Covid-19 hit Europe and soon after Africa  we've been in contact on a weekly basis to update each other on our situation and share any news.

In Kasese District where Elijah and Mourice are from - the people are under one of the strictest lockdowns in any country and it keeps getting extended.  Due to the far-reaching limitations on leaving their properties, work is difficult and price gouging for food and staples is rampant.  Adding to the devastation, more recently, 3 main local rivers burst its banks in Kasese District and displaced over 100.000 people. Villagers who have lost everything are sheltering in makeshift refugee camps where food, bedding and water are in short supply and Covid poses a serious threat to health.
It's become a disastrous situation and people are desperate for help.  Elijah came up with a project plan that would support his community and become a sustainable income generator so that people can survive.

The rabbit farming project proposes to help communities through a resilient approach to address issues of low income and nutrition deficiencies at household level which have resulted from the causes above.
The project plans to train 50 farmers in the recommended rabbit farming practices. The project shall then give a pair of rabbits to each of the farmers from the communities for free. Each farmer will then be required to give out two pairs of rabbits to two additional farmers near them. Through this, the project will have a greater community impact.
The project shall sell the rest of the rabbits to Hotels and restaurants to generate income to ensure program sustainability and meet the daily running needs of the project.

Elijah and his team have already started constructing the cages and training the rabbit care-takers from a first source of investment, but we still need at least 350 Euro to make the project a success.
We are mindful that everyone has its own problems during Covid, but any small donation will help the community tremendously.

Many thanks and warm regards,

Elijah, Mourice, Frederique
