Support Karyl's Journey to Safety and Stability

Hello, my name is Dwayne.

I am trying to help raise funds for my daughter, Karyl Adrienne Ruiz, who is going through a contentious divorce.

She married an actual Narcissist before the world knew how damaging that personality is to families and relationships.

She dealt with abuse which, as always, started out as emotional and grew into physical. She kept it a secret from the family because she was ashamed. I will never understand, but I know there are thousands of young women who get trapped in a similar situation.

Shortly after the marriage he began cheating and of course blamed my Daughter. Because she was pregnant she couldn't "service" him so He had to go elsewhere.

She bore three children, and they became her reason for staying with the man.

He became an alcoholic early on, and it only got worse from there, culminating in the beating of both his children and my daughter. It became her job to take his wrath to protect her children.

After the children escaped and were out on their own, my daughter's nightmare truly began. It culminated in him bringing women home from the bars. She woke up one morning to find a complete stranger in her kitchen. When she became outraged, her husband proceeded to beat her for the last time, and she called the police.

He was arrested, and charges were filed. He was held for 60 days because he was on probation for beating his son a couple of months prior.

While he was being held, my daughter filed for divorce. That was 8 months ago.

I have paid out $10,000.00 in fees to her attorney to date and have used up my savings. I am 70 years old and live on a small social security income. It breaks my heart that I can't help her more. I can't protect her because I live in WV and she is in Wis. It is a terrible situation for a daughter and heart-wrenching for a father.

My daughter cannot work. She has developed fibromyalgia and acute lymphedema. Because her job was the children and household, she has no work history from which she could apply for disability. She is penniless.

Her husband has not paid one penny of the court-ordered alimony. At this point, her house is being foreclosed on, and she will lose the only asset she has. She has sold every article she has, including heirlooms passed down from her great-grandmother.

In 1980, I won custody of both Karyl and her sister. It took 5 years and cost $52,000.00—a lot of money at that time. I devoted my life to raising those two, and it is painful now to realize that I can no longer be her hero.

That is what brings me here. With hat in hand and my head down, I am asking that someone can see clear to helping this young lady. My firstborn. My child.

As best I can, I will give updates and account for every penny donated. I am obligated to anyone who donates to be a good steward and to account for the funds.
