Hey everyone, my name is Karla. Writing this is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do, but I’m reaching out with a vulnerable heart because I truly need help with my visa renewal. The cost is overwhelming, and I’m doing everything in my power to keep going, even when it feels like I’m carrying the weight of the world alone. I’m a single mom trying to rebuild my life after leaving an abusive five-year relationship. In that moment, I lost everything—my home, my sense of security, the life I thought I had. But I didn’t lose my purpose. My two girls are my reason for breathing, for fighting, for getting up every single day even when I’m exhausted and scared. I work part-time and stretch every dollar as far as it can go. One of my daughters requires extended ABA therapy each week, and I drive over an hour to attend those sessions because her future matters more than anything else. I save what little I can after paying for their basic needs and bills, but without a support system to lean on, it often feels impossible. I’m all my girls have, and I’m doing everything I can to protect them, provide for them, and give them stability and hope.
