Support Kanda: Preserve Her Family's Legacy

Hello all! My name is Mina Wolfe. I am currently staying with the Karen tribe in the village of Na Klang, Thailand where I met Kanda; a 19-year-old visionary who does not realize her own artistic capabilities and purity of heart.

Kanda’s father tragically passed away when she was two years old. So, to help provide for her family, she began working with KSES as a guide, translator, Karen language teacher, elephant/biodiversity expert, and so much more. I have never met a more impressive and humble 19-year-old in all my life.

Kanda and her mother, Lu Jet, welcomed me into their homestay, and I began to show Kanda the ways of photography. I have never seen anyone take to a camera the way she has. I loaned her my DSLR for a day and she spent the whole afternoon documenting her family so that she will be able to preserve memories of her family tree - as she wishes had been possible for her father and lineage before her.

I think it would be incredibly special to gift her her very own camera to document her life and relationships. Ideally, I would like to set her up with a camera body, decent zoom lens to document the elephants, a large capacity SD card (she filled up my 32GB in one day ) and an SD adapter for her OPPO phone.

I will be covering all costs out of pocket. However, due to the LA wildfires putting me out of work before a 2 month internship abroad, any financial contribution would be greatly appreciated. Please help me to make a huge impact on this sweet, sweet girl. She deserves the whole world and more.
