[UPDATE: Kalina has officially been granted a domestic violence protection order for both herself and her daughter. This is a huge and important step forward in ensuring their safety. We are so grateful for how far she has come.
Now, the next chapter begins — the custody battle. Unfortunately, this means continued and significant legal fees. If you are able to donate, no matter the amount, it is deeply appreciated. We truly would not have made it this far without the incredible support, generosity, and prayers from everyone.
I am beyond proud of the strength and progress Kalina has shown through all of this. Talliana is thriving, growing so fast, and doing so well despite everything. There is still a little more fight ahead of us, but we are determined to keep pushing forward.
Any funds raised beyond attorney fees will go directly toward helping Kalina rebuild and restart her life. She is currently working, but childcare and everyday living expenses add up quickly — especially while navigating ongoing legal proceedings. She may also need to secure a new vehicle, as there is uncertainty about whether she will be able to keep the one they previously shared, since he is attempting to regain it through the courts.
Thank you again for your continued support, encouragement, and prayers. Every share, donation, and kind word truly makes a difference]
Hello, my name is Shantrell. I’m not quite sure where to begin. Those of you who know me know that my past is far from perfect, but one thing that has never changed is my deep love for my family.
Today, I am humbly asking for any help you can offer for my beautiful cousin, Kalina Gibson, and her sweet baby girl, Talliana. Without going into too much detail for legal reasons due to an ongoing custody case, Kalina is a survivor of a tragic domestic violence relationship.
Her world was turned upside down when her child’s father took their three-month-old baby and refused to let Kalina see her. Kalina is an incredible mother who has endured unimaginable physical, mental, and emotional abuse. Despite everything she has been through, I am so incredibly proud of her strength and courage.
On Thursday, we went with the police to safely bring Talliana home while the father was at work. The following morning, Kalina filed for a domestic violence protection order. To our surprise, he also filed for emergency custody. Because the accounts presented were very different, the commissioner decided to review both cases and will reconvene on Monday.
If you are unable to contribute financially, we completely understand—prayers are deeply appreciated. We are placing this situation in God’s hands and trusting both Him and the justice system to reveal the truth.
This is only the first step. Kalina urgently needs legal representation. The attorney’s retainer alone is $5,000, and costs will increase if the case goes to trial. We are working with advocates and doing everything we can to raise the necessary funds, but legal support is costly.
I will never take a child’s safety lightly. This man has done unspeakable things to my cousin, and we are praying that the evidence she has carefully documented will be enough. I am so proud of her for finding the courage to finally say enough.
No one has the right to put their hands on another person—especially not the mother of their child. The control, isolation, and abuse Kalina endured stripped her of financial independence and access to her family. She was made to feel as though she deserved the treatment she received, which is simply not true.
For anyone who has experienced domestic violence or knows someone who has, you understand how difficult it is to survive, stay strong, and keep going. Kalina is doing exactly that, and I could not be prouder.
Please, if you are able, any contribution—even one dollar—means more than you know. Your kindness, compassion, and prayers are deeply appreciated.
Thank you for reading, sharing, and standing with
