Support Kalin Burns' Road to Recovery

Hi, we are raising funds for the Burns family. Kalin Burns, a recent graduate from Lyons Township High School, was a passenger in a tragic automobile accident on Sunday June 9th. HIs story may be best told, by a social media post from his mother, Kelly Burns:

This is a tough post to make but I know word is spreading and we really want to thank everyone

for the outpouring of love and support. Mike and I are sorry we haven't been able to call or text

you all back. We've been overwhelmed since getting the call.

Sunday night in Michigan, Kalin was the passenger in a horrific rollover car crash that had left

him with a laundry list of injuries. The majority of his injuries are expected to heal on their own

over time. However, his legs are in rather bad shape (you may have seen his pictures/posts).

He has had 2 emergency surgeries to start to repair his legs. He will need to have numerous

more surgeries over the next 6-12 months to reconstruct both knees with a long, long road of

PT ahead. We are in the process of trying to get him medically transported from Muskegon

back closer to home. He's going to need all the love and support from family and friends that

he can get.

I know many of you have asked how you can help Mike and I. Our only ask is to keep him in

your thoughts, call/text/FaceTime him a lot, and visit when he's home... not just when he first

gets home, but for the next several months. It'll be a long time before he will be able to

walk/drive anywhere on his own. We will need to focus on keeping his spirits up and remind

him of how very loved he is.

Seatbelts save lives..... I will be eternally thankful he was wearing his.

Kalin was successfully transferred, by ambulance, from Michigan to Loyola Medical Center in Maywood, on Friday June 14th. We are hoping to raise funds to help his parents take the time off work they need, to be with Kalin. In addition to Mike & Kelly's time off work, there will be medical expenses that may include equipment Kalin may need, or modifications to their home to help him with access while he heals.
