My name is Julie. I am Kalani's mom. I decided to start a GoFundMe for him basically out of frustration. My son, who is 24 years old, had everything he has worked so hard for stolen from him. My son works for every dollar and saves his money to be able to buy the things that he loves. He got up Sunday morning, took his kayak out fishing, and came home to his garage busted open and everything emptied out of it. My son is an avid fisherman, snowboarder, and hiker. He works hard in construction where he has saved thousands and thousands of dollars to be able to buy all the tools he needs to do his job. They literally left him his cooler and his work boots, and that is it. He had over $20,000 stolen from the garage, including all of his saltwater fishing rods and reels along with all of his gear. It's sickening to me that somebody can steal from such a young, hard-working man. This kid has never asked for a single dollar; he has worked for everything he has ever wanted. He has lived on his own since he was 19, worked two jobs for so long—one as a deckhand in San Diego going out on a fishing boat four days a week, and the other three days at Home Depot warehouse—until he got his current job where he works for a construction company. It's going to take so long for him to be able to recoup the things that he has lost, I just thought by maybe getting a GoFundMe for him it would make the process a little easier.
