Support Kaitlyn's Mom in Her Time of Need

Donation protected
Hello,

My name is Kaitlyn, and I am hoping beyond hope for any aid I can get. My stepfather is suddenly divorcing my mom after 14 years of being together, and the reasons are very unclear. But the end result is both my mother and I are being left completely on our own to deal with the fallout. This divorce changes everything for my mother, as well as for me. My mother is a triple cancer survivor and disabled, and is currently looking at further health complications. These new health complications could expand her disabilities even further. Due to these growing and permanent health problems, along with the sudden divorce, my mother will need to stay with family, and my new husband and I are the best options she has. But my husband and I are still financially recovering from our wedding, and we were not ready for such a life changing event out of the blue. On top of that, my stepfather has made it clear that though she can leave with her items, she will not be allowed to leave with any money other than her social security benefits. These benefits only help to pay her current bills and food costs. We have almost no funds to help with impending medical expenses, combining our household bills, upcoming moving costs, and costs of having to move into a whole new home because my current one cannot accommodate my mother's disabilities. We have to completely change our lives to help eachother, and we have to do so to make sure that we can survive. I am looking for funds to help support her during her medical needs, move her to my state (Maine to Kentucky) since it'll be too expensive for us to move to her, and either rent or buy a home that is suitable for us and my mothers disabilities. Any financial aid whatsoever would help so much with the upcoming expenses that we have to contend with.

As a breakdown:
Moving expenses - $4000 (both getting her from Maine to Kentucky, as well as moving her, myself, and my husband into a new home that is disability friendly.)
Down-payment for new rental or home - $2000-$5000 depending on whether we can rent or buy.
Combining our bills - $500 (phone bills, credit cards, medical bills and other payments that we need to jump start on when we combine households)
Other needs - A Car - $4000. My husband and I have only one car, and will absolutely need another for mom's medical appointments. Stepfather has made it clear that she will not be taking any of their current cars with her in the divorce.

On top of any money that anyone would be willing to part with, any information on any funding that we might get access to would be great as well. I am already applying to independent living areas for my mother (to see if those would work better) and caregiver programs to perhaps get money to take care of her. I have also looked into potential programs to help with housing and moving. We have not gotten approved for anything yet, and I already feel at the end of my rope.

If anyone has any further advice on care, grants, cars for sale, or anything that could help us, I would love to hear it. Information would be just as important for us as funds would be. If anyone has been through a similar situation as the one I am describing, please tell us any tips or tricks you would know to help us get though this hell. I'm so desperate to make sure that my mom will be properly taken care of, get her through the toughest time of her life, and try to make the best of this situation for myself and my husband. My mother has always been there for me, was such a fighter with all three of her cancers as well as her limitations, and no matter what, made sure I had the best she could get me in her life. I want to repay that love and kindness by being the one she can turn to, and allow her to be properly taken care of. I always knew I would take care of my mother, but I never knew it would be so soon. Her soon to be ex-husband was supposed to do that. We are all so overwhelmed by everything we need, and I'm not sure how we can accomplish all of this in the next couple of months. If there is anyone out there willing to help us in any way, we would all be eternally grateful.

Thank you everyone.
