Kadance Fredericksen was a survivor. From a young age, she endured the hardships of abuse, neglect, and homelessness. In those darkest moments, the only thing that brought her comfort was a single stuffed animal, a small source of security in a world that often felt unsafe. She carried that stuffy with her from house to house, couch to couch, clinging to it when everything else felt uncertain.

Her life changed when she was rescued by her biological father and now adoptive mom, who gave her the love, stability, and support every child deserves. With their encouragement, Kadance turned her pain into purpose. In 2017, she founded Kada’s Promise, a program dedicated to providing teddy bears and blankets to children in foster care, homeless shelters, abuse shelters, and hospitals—children facing the same struggles she once did. She knew firsthand how something so small could offer hope in the darkest of times.

Though Kadance is no longer with us, her mission lives on. Through partnerships with local organizations, Kada’s Promise remains dedicated to ensuring that no child feels alone, forgotten, or unloved.

Kadance’s story is one of resilience, love, and hope. We will continue her promise.
