Greetings,
I am a Member and Chairperson of the Funding Mobilizing Committee of Karonga Chitipa Heritage (KACP) in Malawi, living in the US. Like many other cultural heritage groups, we aim at preserving our culture and traditions and actively evolving into relevant socio-economic viability and sustainability of our communities.
KACP community comes from the 13+ ethnic tribes that live in Chitipa and Karonga districts including the Lambya, Sukwa, Ndali, Bemba, Namwanga, Ngonde, Tumbuka, Chiha, Nyakyusa, etc.
Our key aim is to drive mindset change, sense of ownership messages, equip our communities with socio- economic self reliance, resilience and calls to sustainability using cultural heritage as a springboard to achieve the same.
In 2022, we held our inaugural cultural festival at the sacred Mbande Hills in Karonga district, and this year we are gathering again to celebrate our diverse and rich heritage under the theme, "Unity in Diversity - Respect and Justice for All" from October 18-19, 2024.
We invite all the people and friends of Karonga, Chitipa, friends, and those who just love these beautiful people to wish us well by making a suggested $30 or donation of any amount to help us put on an event that will make the community proud.
