Stand With Justin After His Traumatic Accident

Donation protected
Many of the community have followed Justin throughout this past year on Facebook, and we wanted to keep you all involved in his journey. Thank you to all of you for the support and guidance you have given to help us rebuild all that we have lost!

Backstory: Justin is a 36-year-old active man who has never let any obstacle stand in his way. I have always said Justin is the "jack of all trades." If someone needed help, he was there, giving the shirt off his back to give a helping hand. He was and still is one to never shy away from hard work. That's where I believe Justin found his purpose. He enjoyed a job well done and seeing the result of all his hard work. Whatever he planned, had an idea or task he needed to complete that day, he set out to complete it, even if it meant he would have to be home later than usual.

In April 2023, Justin took everything he learned over the years and decided to set out on his own as a general contractor, with landscaping being his passion. With a lot of success getting his name out in the community and building relationships, exactly 1 year later, just an average day changed our lives forever.

What happened:
On April 19, 2024, at 6:08 PM, my phone alerted me that I had a voicemail. They stated they were a doctor at Concord Hospital and that you are an emergency contact for a patient we have here. Immediately called back, and what everyone fears most to hear was now his family and I's reality. They said they were doing what they could to keep him comfortable and to get there as soon as possible.

That afternoon, Justin fell 50 feet from a lift he had rented to cut down some pine trees in Gilmanton, NH. Aggressively resuscitated 3 times with little to no blood pressure, he arrived at Concord Hospital as a level 1 trauma. The tree that he cut landed on the left side of his body. Both legs were shattered from the extensive crush injuries with multiple fractures throughout his body, both lungs had collapsed from the fall, and due to the rapid breakdown of skeletal muscle in his right leg (Rhabdomyolysis) and with life-threatening toxins being released into his body, Justin needed to undergo a right leg above knee amputation. Doctors were doing what they could to salvage his left leg, but within days, he had lost blood flow to his left foot. Surgeons had no choice but to perform a below-knee amputation. Due to the sudden impact of the fall, he spent 12 days in a coma and on a ventilator. We were also told that scans showed that he had some shearing of his brain from a DAI injury from the acceleration-deceleration of the fall. He was one of the lucky ones to regain consciousness, as many do not. He experiences short-term memory loss daily and at times has trouble with everyday problem-solving. Despite all of this and everything he faces daily, Justin is still out there trying his hardest to continue to be who he knows he can be. With so many who support Justin's chance at his new life, you have given him the hope to "Keep on Keeping On."

Updates: After living in our apartment for 7 years, we were asked to vacate by January 31, 2025, due to renovations, but we knew that wasn’t the real reason we were asked to leave. We lived on the 2nd floor, and our apartment was not easy for Justin to live in anymore; we knew he was looked at as a liability. Tried fighting against it and turned down at all angles. We are still searching for a place to call home.

February 1st, 2025, moving weekend. Justin's white Chevy caught fire after returning from the store, as it had sat in the driveway for 20 minutes. We came back outside and continued to load up. We saw that smoke was bellowing from the hood of the truck. As we got to the bottom of the stairs, the truck was already engulfed.

That white Chevy was Justin's freedom and took him to every appointment and did every job it needed, but it was no longer safe for Justin to drive anymore.

Shortly after he was coming home from the shop in Pittsfield, NH, He had fallen asleep and veered off the side of the road into a gully of snow. Insurance came out to assess the truck and deemed that the truck was a total loss and needed too much to be roadworthy again.

Now we are down to just my vehicle. My 2018 Jeep Renegade is not nearly spacious enough for the 3 of us to travel in daily. Up for an inspection at the end of March, and it needs a little TLC to pass inspection.

We have been on a continuous hunt for a truck that is safe for Justin and can easily be equipped for hand controls.

On March 18, 2025, Justin received his right prosthetic leg. With both prosthetic legs and learning to walk again safely, he will need to set up future outpatient rehabilitation appointments.
As Justin continues this journey, he will have refittings every 3-5 years as his residual limbs change in shape.

With both legs costing around $22,000 for basic models. The ultimate goal is to get him durable and "fingers crossed" waterproof legs in the future.

Justin's lifestyle is a very fast-paced lifestyle, and not many can understand the challenge of being forced into living life idle. He is not one for sitting still and does not like staying indoors longer than he has to. He enjoys being outside, doing any work that is needed for families in the community. He strives to provide for his family and does his best daily.

I had set up this GoFundMe so that Justin is able to live his life the best way he knows how. With bills accumulating constantly and Justin needing a wheelchair that can keep up with him, a truck that won't leave him stranded, and a new place to call home, it seems to be a never-ending struggle. With a title loan on my Jeep and 2 storage units seems like we are constantly drowning in the stress of it all.

The 3 of us have not had it easy lately, with all of us struggling in different ways, and with me being the glue that holds us together right now, getting back to work has been a challenge. Life is more demanding of me, and most days are harder than others. I do my best with the little support I have and try to keep it together with both Aubree and Justin needing me in different ways.

I thank each one of you from the bottom of my heart for helping Justin receive what is needed for him to thrive, and we will keep fighting this fight together.
I appreciate the kind words and levels of support and guidance from our community, don't think it ever goes unnoticed.
