My name is Justin Fritz, and I am a 17-year-old Life Scout in Mission Viejo Troop 787 working toward earning the rank of Eagle Scout before I turn 18 and age out of Scouting. For my Eagle Scout project, I will be building custom cello storage units for Bathgate Elementary School, where I am proud to be a former student alum. The principal suggested this project because the school’s cellos currently have no proper storage space and are often left sitting on the counters or floor in the multi-purpose room, creating clutter and risking accidental damage to the cello cases. Additionally, the multipurpose room is frequently used for various student activities and events. Keeping this room organized without random cello cases in the way will benefit all the students at Bathgate, not just those in the music program. As someone who participated in Bathgate’s music program myself, this project is especially meaningful to me. The program helped spark my love for music and gave me the foundation to continue playing throughout middle school and high school in jazz band, ensemble groups, and marching band. I want current and future Bathgate students to have the same opportunity to grow through music in an organized and supportive environment. I am raising funds to help purchase the wood, hardware, paint, and other materials needed to complete the project. With the help of fellow Scouts, friends, family, and volunteers, I will lead the planning, construction, and installation of the storage units. Every donation, no matter the amount, will go directly toward creating a more organized and functional space for Bathgate Elementary School, their music program, as well as protecting these instruments for future generations of students.
