This March, the Matchsellers are welcoming their newest member - Baby Matchseller!

Julie and Andrew are expecting their first baby, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome him to the family.

As independent musicians for over 10 years, they have built their lives and community through music, not only in Kansas City, but across the U.S. and internationally. Being part of a band they love also means that, unlike traditional jobs, there is no paid maternity or paternity leave. Every show, rehearsal, and tour date is how they earn their living.

Julie has already started to take time from the band to prepare for the baby and will be taking additional time away from the band to recover from birth, adjust to motherhood, and bond with baby — time that is incredibly important, but also financially challenging without income from touring and performing.

This isn’t about anything fancy — it’s about groceries, supplies for baby, and keeping the lights on while they adjust to becoming parents. It’s about giving two hardworking musicians the same grace and support that many traditional jobs provide.
