Please take a moment and read Julian's story. As a community, we are hoping to raise enough to help bolster the budget needed to get a reliable vehicle that fits the whole family for the Brinx clan. No amount is too small, and 100% of the proceeds will go directly to the family's budget for a reliable family vehicle.
Just under 3 years ago, our family's world was turned upside down in the most unexpected and devastating way we ever could have imagined. Our strong, bright, beautiful, 4-year-old Julian was diagnosed with stage IV high-risk adrenal gland neuroblastoma. Since then, our sweet boy has endured more than anyone should be subjected to in a multitude of lifetimes – a seemingly endless litany of chemotherapy and radiation sessions, surgeries, stem cell harvestings/infusions, immunotherapy treatments, and a constant stream of imaging and doctor appointments. During this period, we had been elated on three separate occasions when Julian had been deemed “cancer free,” only to be devastated each time when the cancer returned.
We have been in constant awe of the strength, courage, and resilience Julian has shown through this ordeal, all the while wanting nothing more than a life focused on going to school, playing with friends, and being part of a loving family just like all the other kids. In the coming weeks, Julian is scheduled to start a CAR-T cell therapy trial at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and we know he will continue to fight like the warrior he has proven himself to be. He will continue to inspire us all, and we will all be right there with him, helping him in this fight in any and every way we can.
We have experienced first-hand that pediatric cancer takes a toll on a family in ways beyond the immediate physical and emotional impacts. There is the relentless stress and anxiety that is always in the background, and often at the forefront, of our battle. And there is, of course, a significant financial toll.
Recently, one of our vehicles, the only one which fit our entire family, failed on us. Not knowing exactly how we would finance a replacement vehicle, we knew we needed to start looking. So we reached out to our family’s trusted “car guy,” Kevin Rudolph at our go-to dealership Royal Buick-GMC. We asked Kevin if he could be “on the lookout” for the right vehicle for us – one large enough, reliable enough, that would last long enough, at the “right price.” We were not at all surprised when Kevin said he was sure he could find something suitable and would start looking right away. However, we were quite surprised when, after hearing more about Julian, Kevin reiterated that he could find the right vehicle but added that he would like to see if he could “do something more.” He wanted to, with our permission, try to get us some financial help by reaching out to the community, as he has often done for local first responders and other charitable organizations. Given our current need, it was an offer that we could not refuse.
So, if you are able and would like to donate to our cause, please know that it would help tremendously and be greatly appreciated. If you think others that you know would be interested in hearing Julian’s story, please feel free to share. And finally, please send any well wishes, good vibes, or positive thoughts you might have Julian’s way.
With sincere gratitude,
The Brinx Clan
