We are raising money for Julia, Serias (Hannah), and Ray (Eleanor) Handschuh as Julia transitions to full-time parenting after the unexpected loss of the kid's grandfather, David H. Truesdell, on May 21st. David became the primary caregiver of Serias and Ray after their grandmother Janet passed away in January 2024. Serias and Ray lost their parents when they were very young: Rebecca Handschuh in 2013, and Lucas Handschuh, Julia’s brother, in 2015.

Julia, Serias, and Ray have the support of the remaining family members, the children's school communities, and many family friends. We hope to ease the pain of this great loss and enormous transition by ensuring they will not have to worry about money for the rest of the year.

We are estimating that Julia and the kids will need financial help with the following:

Income - $14,000 to cover baseline living expenses for the rest of the year

Home renovations - $1,500 (they need storage space, upgrades to the kitchen, and a door to create a second bedroom for the kids)

Summer camp - $2,600

Therapy for the kids - $2,240 (sessions through the end of the year)

Things are changing rapidly and there are still a lot of unknowns, so this amount could change.
