Support Judita's Medical Mission to Kenya

Hello everyone,

For some of you who doesn't know me, my name is Judita. I work as an ICU RN at Rush University Medical Center. I been giving an amazing opportunity to be able to go on a medical mission trip this year with Operation International Team Chicago to help perform surgical care.

Team Chicago was launched in 2019 by Dr. Edie Chan, Abdominal Transplant Surgeon at Rush. This will be team Chicago’s fifth year providing medical and surgical care. The first year we traveled to Uganda & performed 84 surgeries over one week. Year two, we performed 112 surgeries in Ghana, year three we returned to Ghana where we performed 219 procedures. Fourth year we traveled to Tanzania.

This year we are hoping to continue to help as many people as we can! Surgical cases varied from goiters to hernia repairs to burns contracture releases, and the lives of these individuals were drastically changed. We also will visit an Orphanage sponsored by Operation International and deliver clothing, toys, and food. We will have to bring all of our own surgical supplies with.

OI Team Chicago itself is a self-funded and wants to keep being able to do so year after year with your continued support. We are raising money for our upcoming medical aid trip to Kenya, Africa in May, 2025! OI is a non-profit organization was created to provide free medical care to children and adults suffering from the lack of basic health care in poor countries.

Our goal is to provide much-needed surgical care to underserved communities in rural Kenya. Donations raised through GoFundMe will help support the coverage for all of the the expenses such as medical supplies, medications, airfare, food, lodging and fund other various expenses of the trip.

Nothing brings me more joy to help those in need. Not only do we provide the necessary surgical treatment most of these patients wouldn’t have access to, we also teach and assist the local community in basic surgical skills. I'm so honored and excited to be apart of this team, and hopeful we can raise enough money to cover the costs of all the incredible things we are hoping to accomplish while on our trip to Kenya!
