Hi, my name is Isabel. I’m a single mother of 10 kids, 6 of whom still depend on me. I’ve always worked two jobs to support my kids, but recently, about a year ago, my 17-year-old son was diagnosed with astroblastoma, a rare type of brain tumor which is cancerous. His chance of living 5 years is 55%. So now I only work one job, and most of the time, I miss a lot of days or hours, which is very hard on me to support my family. But my son needs to get his chemo and lots of other doctor's appointments.
I still can’t put it together that one day my son may not be here with me. Every day is a challenge waking up, making sure he is okay. I try so hard to look strong and be happy for him and his brothers and sisters, but inside I’m dying of pain, hoping all this goes away. But I know it’s not; I need to prepare myself for that day when it comes.
My son got his wish granted from the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and we are very excited. But in order for them to continue the process, we need to get our passports, and on top of that, we are gonna need clothes, essentials, and luggage to go on the cruise. I hope we can get the money to make my son's wish come true and make him happy for a moment again by getting him away from all the poking, the hours of MRI, the spinal tests, CT scans, and the radiation tests, and just letting him be the happy kid he once was. My son's name is Juan, and he and our family will always be very thankful to all who can help us out. Thank you very much.
