Standing Strong with a True Servant of the People
We invite you to stand with us in support of our dear friend and hero, retired NYPD Detective Juan Fernandez, as he meets the greatest challenge of his life with the same courage and grace that defined his decades of service. Diagnosed with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer, now affecting his spine, and recently recovering from a stroke while in the hospital, Juan continues to face each day with unwavering resolve and the quiet strength that those who know him have come to admire.
More than his diagnosis, however, Juan’s story is one of resilience, deep commitment, and extraordinary service.
A Life Devoted to Family and Purpose
At the heart of Juan’s life is his family. He is a devoted husband to Lily, and a proud, loving father to Sydney, Samantha, and Jessica. To them—and to all of us—Juan is not only a protector, but a source of wisdom, humor, strength, and love. His dedication to others has always extended far beyond the badge.
Service in Every Sense of the Word
Juan’s journey in service began in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he earned the Naval Achievement Medal and the Meritorious Unit Citation, among other honors. He carried that same sense of duty and integrity into his 20+ years with the New York Police Department, where he rose to the rank of Detective 2nd Grade.
Juan served in multiple demanding and high-profile units, including the 41st Precinct, Bronx Narcotics, and the Intelligence Bureau’s Threat Assessment Protection Unit, where he helped protect New York City’s leaders and international dignitaries. Among his many responsibilities, he served as a trusted member of the personal security team for Police Commissioner William Bratton, managing security operations that reached across the nation and the globe.
Perhaps most notably, Juan is a 9/11 first responder, having answered the call in the hours and days following the attacks. He took part in the rescue and recovery efforts at Ground Zero, standing with his fellow officers and first responders in the face of unimaginable loss. His presence there was not just professional—it was deeply personal.
Continuing His Mission After Retirement
Even after retiring from the NYPD, Juan continued to protect others on a global scale. As Director of Corporate Security at Endeavor Holdings LLC / TKO—the powerhouse behind UFC, WWE, IMG, and more—he led international security operations, safeguarded high-profile talent, and coordinated with law enforcement across borders.
Juan has been the calm presence behind major sporting events, live broadcasts, and corporate operations worldwide. Always discreet, always professional, and always trusted, Juan’s presence has meant peace of mind to countless people behind the scenes.
Why He Needs Us Now
Today, Juan and his family are navigating the difficult path that comes with a serious diagnosis—one that brings emotional, physical, and financial challenges. After a lifetime spent protecting others, Juan now needs our protection, care, and community.
Our goal is simple: to ease some of that burden. With your support, Juan can focus on healing and on spending meaningful time with his loved ones.
All donations will go directly to the Fernandez family to help cover the costs of medical care, rehabilitation, and daily living expenses during this critical time.
How You Can Help
We will soon share details about an upcoming fundraiser to honor Juan and rally even more support. In the meantime, we invite you to help however you can:
• Make a donation

Let’s stand together for a man who has stood for so many. Let’s show Juan that his years of selfless service have not gone unnoticed—and that the community he spent his life protecting is now here to protect him.
