Support Juan David and Mirian

We are urgently raising money to support Juan David, Mirian, and their daughter as they navigate the nightmare of Juan David’s recent detention. This follows months of continuous targeting by ICE, the trauma of Mirian’s previous detention, and Juan David's experience as a survivor of labor trafficking. Funds raised will be distributed directly to this family, to use however best meets their needs – including for rent and other living expenses, groceries, and legal fees.

Juan David and Mirian have spoken out with incredible courage against the cruelty and injustice of this system after being continuously, deliberately, and violently targeted by ICE at every turn. We must continue to show them they are not alone.

We invite you to show up in solidarity.

Update from 12/09/25:

On December 9th, 2025, Juan David was detained by ICE while attending a mandatory weekly ISAP check-in in Burlington, MA. Just before the check-in, Juan David gathered outside the office with over 100 community members who had mobilized to support him that morning. As he told one of the vigil organizers on the phone the previous night, “we are fighting together for my case, but also for the thousands of other immigrants in similar situations.”

As soon as Juan David and his attorney entered the ISAP office, they were led to a conference room where Juan David was immediately instructed to face the wall, handcuffed, and taken away.

This detention follows months of trauma inflicted on this family by ICE, including the inhumane detention of Juan David’s wife, Mirian, and the unsettling events of his last check-in on December 2nd, where deportation officers were brought in to intimidate him and threatened the detention of the entire family unit, including his young daughter, despite a judge's order.

Juan David and his family already lived the nightmare of detention and family separation when Mirian was detained this fall. For two and a half months she was shuttled between detention centers in Massachusetts, New Jersey, and Texas, before finally being released on a judge’s order back to her family. Only a month after Mirian’s release, Juan David has now been detained, leaving Mirian as the sole caretaker of their daughter and leaving their daughter once again without one of her parents.

At every turn ICE has pressured this family to leave the country and return to a place they fled, fearing for their lives. Despite ICE’s violence and intimidation, Juan David and Mirian have chosen over and over to continue fighting for their right to remain here in their community. Their courage is a gift that inspires us all to find our own courage.

Any additional funds raised beyond what this family needs will be used to support other community members impacted by ICE detention or deportation.
