Support JR's Battle Against Colon Cancer

Friends and family,

Five months ago, our family was informed with the devastating news that our father JR had been diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer that had spread to the lymph nodes. Our father has always been a hard-working man who put his family and their needs before his. After working in the NYPD for 13 years now as a narcotics detective, he was forced to stop working and earning for his family. The last few months have consisted of 5 weeks of radiation, leading into 16 weeks of chemotherapy. Watching our dad, who had always been invincible, go through such a painful process is a difficult journey. If you’re lucky enough to know our dad, you know he's never asked for help. As his family, we’re doing it for him. Getting him to agree to let us do this took 5 months. And we also want people to know the funds they donate will be going towards his medical bills and expenses lost during his rigorous treatment that would normally provide for the family.

Over the rest of the summer, JR will continue his fight against colon cancer, with 13 more weeks of chemotherapy through his port. Upon the arrival of the fall, JR's medical team will make the decision on whether or not surgery will be required. So much is still unknown and it’s still unclear how long the road ahead is. These conditions can last far longer than we hope and into the new year. Despite his private nature, we are doing all we can to ease the financial burden we know he bears.
