Support Josh Williams' Eagle Scout Project - Wauwatosa, WI

My name is Josh Williams, and I am a senior at Wauwatosa West High School. I am a member of Boy Scout Troop 21 in Wauwatosa, WI, and I am working on my Eagle Scout project.

Breitlow Field is the baseball complex for the Wauwatosa School District, and the home for the Wauwatosa West and Wauwatosa East baseball teams, as well as various community and youth teams. The field is named for Dale Breitlow, who was the Assistant Principal at Wauwatosa West High School in the 1980’s and early 1990’s. Prior to that he was an educator and baseball coach at Cambridge High School in the 1970’s and 1980’s. Tragically, Mr. Breitlow was shot and killed by a former student at Wauwatosa West High School on December 1, 1993.

My Eagle Scout Project consists of installing four benches at Breitlow Field. One of the challenges of the park is the distance from the parking lot to the seating at the field. The paved path to the seating is approximately 700 feet. The benches will be placed on the pathway that leads from the parking lot to the baseball fields. This would be a great addition to the park as it will provide a place to rest for the elderly visitors or those with physical limitations during their walk to the fields from the parking lot. The benches will be built out of pressure treated lumber and galvanized carriage bolts. They will be secured underground with gravel and cement.

I would also like to have a memorial erected that explains who Dale Breitlow was and memorialize the sacrifice that he made. Currently, there is no information at the park explaining who Mr. Breitlow was and the sacrifice that he made.

For the cost of materials and resources for the bench and plaque, I am looking to raise $1,250 dollars. Thank you for considering supporting my project.
