Jose (not his real name) has called the United States home for 30 years. He left Mexico at age 15, built a life here, and now has a family, a home, and a landscaping business that once served about 50 clients. Jose is a widower, raising his 14-year-old daughter and supported by his 21-year-old son, who helps with the business when he can. Despite his hard work, paying taxes, and having no criminal history, Jose lives in constant fear of being detained by ICE agents who are actively canvassing his community. Simply leaving his home to work, go to church, or pick up his daughter puts him at risk because of his undocumented status and the increased targeting of Latino workers in his area.

This fear has forced Jose to stay home, unable to safely run his business or provide for his family as he always has. With warmer weather approaching, the demand for his landscaping services will grow, but without Jose at the helm, the business will lose clients and the family’s financial stability is at stake. The funds raised through this campaign will help cover essential living expenses like groceries and routine bills for Jose and his children. In addition, we hope to extend support to three to five other undocumented families in our community who are facing similar hardships and fears of separation.
