My name is Savanna, and May 30, 2025 I had the pleasure of meeting this gentleman, Jo, at a stoplight in Jackson. His sign read “looking for work, please help. God Bless”. As I looked at Jo, I saw someone who was so sad but someone who believed in hope. The first time I met him he told me “it’s not about the dollar, it’s about the fact you smiled at and talked to me.”

Jo has been homeless for the last 4 years, and before that he lived a life like the rest of us. Going to work, having a family, cooking dinner, etc. As most of us, his life took a turn. But that doesn’t stop him from believing in purpose. Jo’s passion for not giving up is inspiring, and every time I speak to him he truly makes my day. His sense of humor is unmatched, his kindness is evident, and his love for others is truly amazing. Jo has told me he’s been so close to giving up, he was talking to God just praying for SOMETHING, and he said I came along and asked “what do you need”. (I have completely inspired by the Holy Spirit through this whole journey), and like Jo, I also believe he still has a purpose. He simply wants to work, and In order to get work, he needs transportation. So as another step to help my friend Jo, I’m starting this to raise money to get him a car in his name (he has identification) to get him from point A to point B. He’s been making the right steps to get on track, but feels he keeps getting knocked down. I want to change Jo’s life and help him get off the street. If you feel lead to help, please do.
