( NEW GO FUND ME FOR THEM https://gofund.me/24b1b34d )On Wednesday, April 13th, my brother Jorge and sister-in-law Maria were detained by Border Patrol near the northern Michigan and Canadian border. They were on their way back from work to Wisconsin, where they reside.
Since that day, our family has been doing as much as possible to assist them legally with a lawyer and support. Unfortunately, my sister-in-law was transported to an Ohio detention facility since there were none near Michigan that housed women.
My brother has been in the United States since around 2006. He has since then started a family here in northern Wisconsin with his only son, Jorge Jr. Jorge Jr. was born prematurely; he was born 6 months early and was in the Milwaukee Children's Hospital for 6 and a half months. During those 6 months, my brother would get out of work on Thursday and early the next day would be on the way to go be with his son for 3 days before he had to go back to work. Jorge Jr., fortunately, against all odds, was able to do everything that the doctors said he would never be able to do, such as talk, run, jump, and play. In recent time his son has also had mental health issues and it is critical that him and his dad spend time together.
My sister-in-law Maria got with my brother 5 years ago, and since then they have lived together. She has her own small business, where she would make custom prints on shirts, mugs, and basically anything she could. Further down the line, my brother and her started making accessories for parties that were up for renting, such as picture sets, bouquets, party games, and party decorations. She also has a son who is 14 years old, is active in sports, doing well in school, and is inseparable from his parents. Maria has had a massive impact on our lives and would be just as devastating if we were to lose her.:
Both Jorge and Maria have had a massive impact not only on their families' lives but also on the community that they live in. Anything and everything is appreciated by our family
The funds that are obtained from here will be used to pay legal fees, send them money, and if granted help pay bail in hopes that they are able to return home to us safe and sound.
