Hi, my name is John Swearingen. I’m reaching out because my world was turned upside down in January when my wife was in a tragic accident while traveling from Colorado back home. It happened in the unforgiving roads of Wyoming, and she was airlifted to the University of Utah Hospital in Salt Lake City.
My wife, the love of my life, is now unable to talk or move—stripped of the basic functions we all take for granted. She’s a devoted mother to two beautiful daughters and one incredible son. She’s also the loving stepmother to my five kids, who have been blessed with her unwavering love and care. She recently became a grandmother, but heartbreakingly, she hasn’t been able to hold her granddaughter or even see her yet. She’s currently on a ventilator, clinging to life, and we are in desperate need of prayers and good thoughts.
I am doing my best to hold everything together, but the weight of it all is crushing. We live in Idaho Falls, ID, which is three long hours away from her. With money being tight, I’ve only been able to see her twice. The guilt and helplessness I feel are overwhelming. I’ve never asked for help like this before, but I know there are kind souls out there. Right now, we are in desperate need of God’s Blessing.
In addition to the emotional devastation, the financial toll has been staggering. The seven months my wife has spent at the University of Utah Medical Center have drained us. The thought of losing her is unbearable, and now I’m faced with the grim reality of making final arrangements. The costs of cremation, compounded by the medical expenses, have left us completely devastated. She leaves behind three children and five Stepchildren who will never get the chance to know her warmth and love as they grow.
Any support, no matter how small, would mean the world to us as we navigate through this unimaginable pain.
