This initiative is spearheaded by Maboshe Nyambe, a renowned radio presenter affiliated with Lukulu FM Community Radio Station. Operating in one of the most remote and impoverished districts of Zambia's Western Province, Maboshe is taking action on behalf of John and his mother to bring awareness to their plight and rally support for their well-being.

Through his weekly radio program, aptly named *Community Connections*, Maboshe has had two significant encounters with the struggles faced by this family. His first insight came a year ago, followed by a closer look just a month ago in 2025. During these encounters, he gained firsthand knowledge of their tough living conditions and daily hardships. Motivated to understand their reality more deeply, Maboshe visited their home and discovered that the situation for John and his mother—a single parent devoid of any stable income—was even bleaker than he initially anticipated.

Given the challenges John’s mother faces and her lack of access to the tools or resources needed to initiate an online fundraising campaign on her own, Maboshe has stepped forward as a capable and trustworthy intermediary to manage this endeavor. His goal is to ensure that every penny raised is utilized transparently and directed solely toward improving John’s care, advancing his education, and addressing the most pressing needs of the family.

John is a courageous 15-year-old boy living with Spina Bifida, a condition that requires constant care, medical treatment, and special support. His mother Rosalia Mumba, aged 58, has been his only source of strength since his father left, unable to cope with the challenges of raising a child with special needs.

Every day, she works tirelessly—selling fritters to earn what little she can—to provide for her son.

Yet, the expenses far outweigh what she manages to earn. John’s needs are many:

• Regular physiotherapy to manage his condition.

• A proper wheelchair to give him mobility and independence.

• Basic daily necessities such as food, diapers, and medical supplies.

• Access to special education, including tuition, transportation, and a caretaker to accompany him.

Despite all the challenges, John shines in his studies and dreams of continuing his education in a specialschoolwherehecanthrive.Hisdeterminationandresilienceinspireeveryonewhomeetshim. But without financial help, this dream cannot become reality.

Our goal is to raise ZK 75,000(about $2,927)to cover:

• Medical care and physiotherapy

• A wheel chair and mobility aids

• Daily essentials and stable housing

• Special school tuition and transport

• Caretaker support for John

• Seed capital for his mother’s small business, giving them a path to long-term stability
