Liver donor and support needed for Johnny Rogers
Donation protected
Many know Johnny Rogers as a lifelong friend, a co-worker, a neighbor, an uncle, a cousin. To his family he is a husband, a father, a grandfather.
What people may not know is that Johnny's health has been rapidly deteriorating over the past few months due to liver disease. In November his family got the worst news, that his lesions were aggressive cancer. He underwent radiation treatment in January to slow the growth of the tumors however that is not a cure, the next step in his treatment is a liver transplant. Once a living donor is found Johnny will undergo liver transplant surgery. The recovery is intensive and Johnny will be out of work for at least 6 months. He will have to travel to and from Rochester routinely and will rely on his family as caretakers during his recovery. Please consider donating to help cover the cost of groceries, utilities, travel and other cost of living expenses while he can not work. The goal is to support Johnny and his family during this difficult time so they may focus on his recovery. Please donate so that Johnny can continue to crack jokes, play pranks and make his famous pineapple upside down cake.
If someone you may know are interested in learning more about becoming a living donor, please call the Living Donor Coordinator at the UMRC Transplant Department at Strong [phone redacted]. To be considered for a living donor you should be a healthy person between the ages of 18-60 years of age, approximately around 5'6 or taller with blood type B+ or O.
