Hello, and thank you for taking the time to read this. I’m Abel Shelburne. On July 14, 2024, my cousin John Nanney and his wife Laura Ann Nanney brought a son, Luke Daniel, into this world. He was born over 10 weeks early (weighing just 13.2 ounces and measuring 9.5 inches long). From before he was born, Luke faced many challenges and was kept alive by the grace of God and the skill of doctors and nurses. Luke died about 7:30 PM on August 4th, having lived 3 painful yet impactful weeks. John has not worked for at least about 6 weeks to be with his wife and son; additionally, they have incurred significant medical bills in the process of sustaining Luke, and not all of these costs will be covered by Laura Ann’s health insurance from being a public school teacher (John’s job has no health insurance benefits).

I do not know exact numbers on what John and Laura Ann will need to cover Luke’s medical bills and their loss of income.

John and Laura Ann are in their early 30s and have experienced much loss and grief already in their lives. They are kind, selfless, and resilient people. While your money won’t take away their pain and grief, it would be a blessing to them as they move forward with their lives and await the day they see their baby son again.
