Support John Acker's Recovery
Donation protected
Hi everyone, my name is Tristen Acker and I created this GoFundMe for my father in law- John Acker - father, husband, grandfather, son, brother, friend, small business owner, Indianapolis resident, and lifelong Hoosier - suffered a major stroke on November 12th, 2024. He was rushed to the hospital where he had surgery to remove a blood clot in his brain, which was successful and removed in its entirety. He has yet to regain his speech and is unable to move his right arm the majority of the time. He was released from the rehabilitation center since he is able to walk and has use of at least one arm but has a very long road to recovery ahead of him. Outpatient therapy multiple days a week and needing a caregiver at home at all times for safety.
Nicole, his devoted wife of 30 years, has been by his side since the stroke occurred. Sleepless nights at the hospital and now being a full-time caregiver in their home. John has always been the sole provider in their home and now unable to work we are raising money to help with bills and any other needs the family may have during this time. Nicole is taking care of him and unable to get a job outside of the home at this time. We know John is a fighter and will do all he can to recover.
Multiple people have reached out wanting to show their support for this wonderful family. We have created this GoFundMe to help with the families bills and needs they may have while he recovers. We do not know how long this recovery process will be; we’ve heard anything from 6 months to a year, but strokes are difficult. We are very thankful for all the family and friends who have offered words of support, meals, and a shoulder to lean on during this time. If you are able, please donate to this wonderful family during this difficult period in their lives.
Prayers are always appreciated.
donations are helping with medical bills not covered by insurance, monthly bills, groceries, and gas to help get John to and from appointments.
