Support Joe's Recovery and Family Stability

Having faced many difficulties and tragedies during our life together, the last few years seemingly offered us the hope of a stable and tranquil life. Just before our marriage, Joe was diagnosed with Lupus and after several years, was able to go back to work full time. Four years ago, we achieved the dream of buying our own home, and seeing our eldest daughters launch out into the world. Our second oldest starts college in just a few weeks and our youngest, the twins, are set to start their senior year of high school. All of this was shattered just before midnight on Monday, July 15th. My husband, Joe, woke up screaming for help and immobile. An ambulance took him to UC Davis Medical Center where we found out that he suffered a brain bleed near his brain stem. The next morning, they told me my husband wouldn’t survive. True to the story of our 20-plus-year relationship, he pulled through! He has been placed on a feeding tube and needed a tracheotomy to breathe on his own. Last week they told me he would be in a vegetative state the rest of his life. While we are hopeful, there is much ground to cover for him to make a full recovery.

Joe proudly was the breadwinner for our family. Today we face not only the loss of our household income but rising medical expenses and even legal costs as we try to protect our family home. Relying on God’s help, we will overcome this as we have done in the past. With the help and support of our family and friends, we can help our daughters' dreams come true and keep our family home.
