Support Joel and Elaine: Recovering from House Fire
Donation protected
On December 16th, Joel and Elaine were startled to find that they could smell smoke coming from somewhere in their home. Upon further investigation, Joel discovered that a fire had started in the basement of the house. He tried to stop the fire himself before the smoke completely took over, and he had to escape back up the stairs and through the back door of the house.
Elaine was also able to make it out of their home and call the Aberdeen Fire Department. They were both safe but were only able to look on as their last 42 years of life completely went up in flames, smoke, and eventually drowned by the water damage. The only thing they have right now is the clothing on their backs.
At this point, the house is considered a total loss, as the flames climbed up the walls between the plaster and the cinder block, making it nearly impossible to locate the source of the fire before it made its way into the attic of the home and completely took off. The ceilings and walls had to be knocked out to continue to douse the flames.
I am asking for donations to help with toiletries, clothing, and any necessities they may need to help get them moving again. They both work and have other bills that need to be paid, all while this tragedy unfolded for them.
They will be staying with Rainee (daughter) and her two children until other living arrangements can be made, or until they can decide what insurance will cover to rebuild their home. Any little bit helps.
Thank you!
